The Road to Rebirth

31 JANUARY 2014–DUBLIN, Ireland–DIOSCURI PRESS has released Irish author Dean F. Wilson’s second novel, The Road to Rebirth: Book Two of The Children of Telm, continuing his engaging and critically-acclaimed epic fantasy series about, in the words of Publishers Weekly, “dark magic, mad gods, and tragically flawed heroes.”

Wilson, 26, has been interested in writing from a very young age, earning a TAP Educational Award from Trinity College Dublin for an early draft of his first novel in 2001, and publishing a variety of poems and short stories over the years.

The Road to Rebirth, published by Dioscuri Press and released today, is the second in a planned epic fantasy trilogy, telling the tale of the last people in the bloodline of a dead god, who was responsible for locking the Beast Agon in the Underworld. The second novel focuses on the attempt to resurrect the father god Corrias after the disastrous events of the first book.

The blurb from the back cover of the novel reads:

THE DYING BREATH. THE DYING WILL. THE DYING HOPE.

After the catastrophe of the Call of Agon, Ifferon and his companions find themselves in the unenviable situation of witnessing, and partaking in, the death of another god—this time Corrias, the ruler of the Overworld.

With Corrias locked inside the corpse of the boy Théos, he suffers a fate worse than the bonds of the Beast Agon. Yet hope is kindled when the company find a way to restore the boy, and possibly the god, back to life.

The road to rebirth has many pitfalls, and there are some who consider such meddling with the afterlife a grave risk. The prize might be life anew—but the price might also be a second death.

“The Road to Rebirth continues the story of The Call of Agon, adding new characters and further developing existing ones,” said Dean F. Wilson. “The world is expanded, and the stakes are higher. The book deals with important themes and concepts, and it ties up some loose ends from the first. Everything builds towards the epic conclusion in the third novel due next year. I can promise that the road that leads there will be an amazing adventure.”

Speaking on the success of the first book, Wilson added: “I was blown away by the support for The Call of Agon. Feedback and reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, from genre fans to Publishers Weekly. I think many people recognise the need for stories that on the surface are fantastical, but underneath explore real human issues.”

Wilson also works as a technology journalist, and has written for TechEye, The Inquirer andITProPortal, among others. His long-term aspiration, which he held since he was a child, is to become a full-time fiction writer, and this novel is another step on that journey.

The Road to Rebirth is available in paperback from AmazonBarnes & NobleThe Book Depository, and numerous other retailers. A Kindle version is also available from Amazon.

Dean F. Wilson is available for interview. Review copies of the book are also available from the publisher on request.
